I received such a touching gift today from two amazing young women, Tola and Tunde. It was a complete surprise, and it came at the perfect time while I was trying to pack for hospital.
I loved the cute little bear with his miniature balloon, the yummy goodies which will serve me well as a good substitute for hospital food, and the very thoughtful card that I know will bring me encouragement for the coming days… but the item my soul jumped for was the little tag surrounding the box with a couple of Bible verses from Psalms 37:23-24
23 The Lord directs the steps of the godly.
He delights in every detail of their lives.
24 Though they stumble, they will never fall,
for the Lord holds them by the hand.
It must have been exactly what my heart needed to hear because I started smiling uncontrollably, and all of a sudden I felt this unexplainable peace poured over me. The nerves, fears and anxieties got washed away and all I was left with was this blinding reminder of who I belonged to.
It’s an easy thing to forget in life, especially when you’re going through stressful circumstances and your mind is constantly churning over different risks and possible outcomes… but sometimes we need something to make us just stop where we are and realise that God has us. In the worst times in your life and in the best. Sure there are other theological parts to that scripture that talk about God directing the steps of the godly, and I’ll be touching on this in later posts, but for now I’m just going to stand here thinking about how the creator of the Universe holds me by the hand as I walk through life.
I won’t be able to write any new posts for a little bit as I go into hospital for this operation and whatever else on my brain, but I will definitely be back and posting an update on everything very soon! So don’t go too far. ?
